Monday, July 12th, 2010

Congress limit’s EPA’s power, delay’s enforcing Lead-Paint Regulation. Possible private talks in Congress about the EPA and New Government trying to control or take over all Contractor’s in Remodeling  Industry.   The EPA has come under fire from Congress. Last month, the Senate voted 60 to 37 to bar the EPA from fining companies or individuals found to have violated the rule, a rare instance of Republicans and Democrats supporting legislation to limit the EPA’s power.

N-take2 says let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Look here; there is no way that I can believe, that the person that invented the N-take2 had money on their mind or was worried about how many of this little phenomenon N-take2s would sell to make them rich and famous. I’ve been in this industry a long time, over two decades and I know from experiences that when you work really hard at something for a long time, no matter what it is you may do in life. It’s only our human nature to try our hardest to make whatever it is we do easier or better. And this is one guy that hated to work outside, on the coldest days of winter, in over three foot of snow, because the fresh air intake on one of his best customer’s high efficiency gas furnace was plugged with snow, and the furnace would not run to heat the home. After years of doing this same job every winter, year after year, going out to the same customer’s house on the coldest day of winter and crawling through three foot of snow all the way around the back of the house just to take five minutes to remove a little snow from the fresh air intake, too keep this favorite customers furnace running. Yes this was just too much and he had just about enough of this. So he made his life and my life a lot easier, and the N-take 2 was born, thank the HVAC gods for planting this seed in his mind, I don’t know a lot about this product just yet, but before I’m done I will know enough to honestly tell you that this person is a genius and deserves to be sitting somewhere on a sunny beach down in Florida when the snow is flying in Michigan, sipping on a margarita, and singing Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. And if you have a high efficiency gas furnace with PVC vent pipe and live anywhere where snow fly’s in the winter or where birds live to make nests in your furnace fresh air intake, you should invest in this awesome new HVAC product that storming our industry, it’s truly keeping furnaces everywhere working where others without this product are not, this one little new idea the N-take2 truly is a miracle. Check out this link to find out how to get a N-take 2 for your furnace and how to find out more information on this fast growing popular product. Also the video review is coming next, so keep a eye open for that, it will be a true test to see how easy it is to install and we will also test to see how reliable it is under pressure.

The Honeywell Glowfly blows the rest away.

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Let me tell you why the Glowfly is the newest and hottest universal hot surface igniter on the market today?

Personally I know how discouraging it is to be on a job where it’s ten below outside with a wind chill of twenty below on the coldest day of winter. You get a call from some home owner with no heat, their hot surface igniter for the furnace is bad and the hot surface igniter for that particular furnace happens to be the only type that you didn’t stock on your truck, let’s see there’s only ten’s or it may seem like hundreds of different types of furnaces out there and they all take different types of hot surface igniters. So you grab the universal hot surface igniter you have on your truck. The one you think should work, only to find out that you can’t fit the universal igniter where the old OEM one came out, maybe because it’s too tight or to difficult to maneuver into place, and to top it off the burner wants to get in the way, and last time I checked it’s not a good idea to try and move a burner. Yes my job can be quite daunting when it comes to replacing one of these fragile unpopular universal igniters. With that said it’s about time someone out there thought of the little guy doing all the work for a change, yes Honeywell did all their homework right and came up with a all in one igniter. They designed a no excuses hot surface igniter that comes with six mounting brackets that are optimized to replace over 110 igniter applications from nearly every furnace manufacture without modification, it’s about as close as OEM that you will ever get with a universal hot surface igniter. What’s even more appealing is that they made it with tough silicon nitride, the hottest new technology in our industry giving this new silicon nitride igniter twice the life as the old silicon carbide igniters. I’m sure that will make a lot of my customer a lot happier. It’s not like they don’t like seeing me, because alot of my customers really do like me, it’s because every time they see me it cost them something. Because Honeywell has made my job easer I can pass that on to my customer, it just takes me less time to install the Glowfly, which means the customer pays less for the time it takes to do the job and my labor. And don’t let me forget to mention, they stand behind their product with one of the industry best three year warranties. So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it and I give Honeywell an A+ for taking their time and doing this one right. A quick note If there is any of you out there that would like a little more technical information on this product or would like to find out how to purchase one of these Honeywell Glowfly’s please feel free to follow this link. Mysterious black streaks around furnace supply vents

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Every once and a while I will have a customer ask me a question, like why is my air filter for my furnace getting so black and dirty so quickly after replacing it, this is usually followed up with another question like, do you know why I have these mysterious black streaks coming out of my supply vents, or maybe they point out black spots around the floor vents that shows up a lot more on white carpet. Well after years of hearing these same questions over and over again, I am very pleased to give you what I think maybe the answer to this mysterious question, please can I have a drum roll? If this is your same question and you have these symptoms in your home, I would be willing to bet you or someone in your home burns scented candles, I found that just about everyone of the customers that asked me about these mysterious black streaks in their homes, burned scented candles. So there you go, if this is you and you have these mysterious black streaks, give this a try. Clean up the black streaks or paint over them and clean your carpet, put in a fresh clean air filter, and the hardest part will be to give up your scented candles for a short time. If the mysterious black streaks don’t return you have your answer, if you still are getting the black streaks my advice to you would be have a licensed heating company come out and inspect your furnace for safety reasons.
